Americares revamps their digital presence through enhancing their global commerce capabilities
Americares
Stamford, CT
Disaster Relief & Global Health Organization
Introduction
One of the largest organizations that address poverty, disasters, or crises with medicine, medical supplies, and health programs, Americares, had a home-built Content Management Systems (CMS) that was incapable of servicing its customers. Their old eCommerce system had terrible support, needed global commerce capabilities, and was challenging to scale.
Solution
Americares engaged Luminos Labs to perform a website audit. Then a decision was made, with the guidance of Luminos Labs, to design and re-platform to a new unified site experience using Optimizely. The single ecosystem would deliver a unified experience across all user tasks, environments, and sites worldwide.
Multi-Site Setup
When the project started, the only website Americares had live was americares.org. Their updated solution now supports a multi-site CMS that allowed Americares to scale to other sites. Now they have three separate sites that share similar CMS pages like americaresindia.org.
International Payment Gateway Integration
Because Americares transacts worldwide, it needed to integrate payment providers for different regions. PayUMoney was implemented to provide links for Americares customers to collect payments via WhatsApp, Facebook, Email, and the website in complicated markets (India).
Blog Feature
Americares migrated their blog from WordPress to Optimizely and built a custom blogging functionality to meet their specific business needs. The updated blog allowed them to have more control over their brand, themes, monetization options, and scalability.
The Results
Americares had a speedy and successful implementation, launching on time and on budget. Their websites were re-platformed quickly on Optimizely, and the multi-site capabilities easily allow them to create new sites for various needs. All hosted on the Optimizely cloud, keeping costs down now and as the website’s needs grow in the future.
